FNK-0001 French Officer’s sabre “à la chasseur à Cheval” or Light Cavalry, model Year XI, First Napoleonic Empire, c. 1802-1814

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #17742

This French Officer’s sabre “à la chasseur à Cheval” or Light Cavalry is in good to very good condition. A majority of the medal surfaces are bright and in great condition. This is in great condition for a sword over 200 years old! The scabbard is bright but has some very minor dark areas/ spots across the scabbard. There are two small dings down by the end of the scabbard which do not impede the sword from going in. The leather grip is in excellent condition with only the most minor wear. The blade still retains most of the original engraving and the bluing/ gold colored inlay in the areas surrounding. The only major flaw or drawback to this sword is that the furrel on the back of the sword grip has been broken off. The original piece was retained and will be included with the sale.
