Hundreds of thousands of British army rifles such as these were bought and used by the north and south during the civil war. Instead of coming west to the US this one went east to Nepal, a British Ali. Except for the markings it is identical to the ones used in our civil war. This example is in good antique condition and makes a perfect display piece. It comes from the Royal Nepalese Arsenal where it served and was stored for 140+ years. The metal has a brown patina; rust spotting/pitting is minimal. Just some simple TLC and elbow grease this rifle should clean up to VG. It has clear Nepalese markings and nice brass furniture. It does not hold cock. Not sold as a shooter.
