Item #7663
VG example of a 2 band Jaeger style rifled musket, probably produced in one of the German States. Thousands of these surplus military arms were imported to the US early in the Civil War, by both the North and the South to meet the needs of their rapidly mobilizing armies. This rifle has an overall length of 47.5. Short rifles such as these were often issued to NCOs. There are 2 cracks in the stock under the barrel. Metal is nice but most markings are illegible. Actions functions, an attractive gun.
