GWO-0024 WWII German Glasmine 43 Anti-Personnel Mine

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #28356

Original WWII German "Glasmine 43" anti-personnel mine. Meant to be undetectable by mine sweepers, the minimum metal mine is made of Glass and a fuse supported by a very thin sheet of metal. This minimal use of metal was also beneficial because it saved the resource for other wartime uses. Manufactured from 1944-1945, 11 million of these were made by the Germans. These were particularly effective because glass shrapnel was significantly harder to find via x-rays and the glass also carried a much higher infection risk.
This example has the outer glass casing, two metal fuse supports, the shear plate, and the pressure plate. The shear plate is broken but is only missing and missing a very small part of the total glass. Otherwise, it is structurally sound and in good condition. The Pressure plate has no markings on the top. The fuse supports are magnetic. The glass casing is marked with a number 2 on the bottom. Very fragile but good condition. Comes with a dummy Sprengkörper 28 200-gram explosive charge (made of wood and wrapped in paper).
