GXK-0006WPN Pre-WWI German M1898 Quillback Bayonet

Refer to "Bayonets" by Janzen on page 82.  This bayonet was adopted from the French Model 1886 Lebel bayonet and has the early distinctive one-piece grip.  


Overall, this one is in good+ condition.  This bright blade shows storage age and wear with some "fingerprint" spots and light pitting. Blade is marked with German Imperial crown and Erfurt.  Crossguard is unit marked "3.G. R. 12.92." with an 1899 date on the spine.  Wooden grips are in fair to good condition.  Both are cracked and one has a 1/2 chip in the wood. The scabbard is in fair condition with some bend marks, but is reasonably solid.  It is unit marked "109.R.6.187.". There are no tears in the leather.  The fittings show age and wear. This is fairly rare bayonet that can add to any collection.
