Belonged to Harry Board who served as a Private First Class Flying Cadet in the Great War. In the 1920s he reenlisted as an officer in the Reserves and became a Pilot. Grouping consists of: -1917 dated Campaign Hat Very Good+ condition. 1917 dated (under the sweatband) has reinforced brim (5 rows of stitching). Virtually no damage or wear to the hat except that it is missing the chinstrap. The aviator’s hat cord is in good to very good condition, light wear and some green spotting from water that caused the colors to run. Size 7 1/8. -WWI Discharge -WWI Military Insurance Certificate -WWI Dog Tag -1929 dated Air Corps rating certificate in leather holder (Certificate is in Very Good condition, holder fair to good condition, will improve with some work) -WWI photo showing him in a balloon basket wearing his hat -Two 1920s photos showing him in Curtis Wright Jenny Trainer -Two 1920s documents relating to his reserve service -American Legion Medal 1946 Machinists Union Dues Book (he worked in the Aircraft Industry)
