JWK-0015, WWII Japanese Late war "Last Ditch" Type 30 substitute bayonet and scabbard (Mfg by Toyota)

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #18669

WWII Japanese Late war "Last Ditch" Type 30 substitute bayonet and scabbard (Mfg by Toyota). Overall in Very good plus condition for a last ditch bayonet. These bayonets were late-war substitute-standard bayonets produced along with the 7.7 mm. Substitute-Standard Type 99 Short Rifle, although they will mount to any of the Type 99 Japanese rifles. This example was made by the "Toyada Jido Shokki Seisakusjo Arsenal" (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works or TALW) under Kokura Army Arsenal supervision, in 1945. This bayonet exhibits the simplified manufacture typical of late-war substitute-standard bayonets, a crude, unfullered blade, straight crosspieces, rectangular pommel, and riveted, slab-sided grips. The scabbard is made of wood, with minimal steel mounts, held together with string. These wood scabbard bayonets are getting very difficult to find now.
