JWO-0010 WWII Era Japanese 25mm Shell Casing

Quantity:
Price:  $109.95

Item #22145

This is a Japanese shell casing from WWII. The shell has expanded to 26 mm because it is used ordnance, but it retains its full shape and historical value. There is patina throughout the shell due to its age and exposure. The bottom of the shell has several markings. EBF, S 6/13, 2 unknown markings/characters. We believe that the 6/13 is part of the Japanese Imperial Calendar, where the 6 stands for the sixth month of the year and the 13 stands for the thirteenth year of the Emperor's reign. If this is correct, this piece of ordnance was manufactured during 1939, the thirteenth year of Emperor Showa's (Hirohito) reign. "Showa" is the name the emperor is given the day of his death, and is the name of his reign. Therefore, his reign of 1926 to 1989 is the Showa era. He is succeeded by Akihito, father of Crown Prince Naruhito.
