REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLE San Francisco Police Registration forms for alien German residents. These 1917 and 1918 dated 4+ page (81/2" x 11") forms were issued to the SFPD by the Federal Government. It was the responsibility of the municipal police to maintain files on these residents. Each form contains information on the subjects criminal record, family history, prior military service, relative serving in the war (both Allied and enemy) etc. Each also has a PHOTO of the alien and his/her fingerprints. Some are accompanied by supplemental paper work. All will be signed by a SFPD Corporal, Sergeant or an Inspector. An interesting "Home Front" item from the Great War with a local (SF Bay Area) twist. Makes an unique collectables for military buffs, San Francisco historians and police collectors.
