SALE GWK-0068-MAM WWII German Single Etched Blade Luftwaffe Short Bayonet

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #20755

This WWII German Single Etched Luftwaffe Short Bayonet.  The hilt of this bayonet has good overall plating with some e small signs of age in the plate, but it is still intact throughout. The mortise button and lock are missing.  It appears that it was removed without damage.  There is no felt in the rifle slot.  The grip plates are the typical black checkered type with offset rivets.  The scabbard is straight throughout. The paint on this shell shows age and is slightly dull with wear from the leather frog.  The frog is in good shape with just some minor crazing to the black surface.  The short blade is still very bright throughout, showing only a little bit of minor age to the surface with very minor scabbard wear.  The blade is etched with the desirable pattern #4,  Fleiger pattern. This pattern depicts oak leaves and acorns at the end with Zur Erinnerung an Meine Dienstzeit which is In Memory of my Surface.  At the beginning of the pattern is a Storch airplane resting on a tarmac. The details to the plane are fantastic, showing the pilot in the cockpit along with a swastika on the tail, an Iron Cross and the designation  C31  on the fuselage. The cylinders on the engine as well as the propeller have fine details, as well as the antenna wires along the top surface of the wings. There is also an Iron Cross on the bottom of the wing. Just a great sight here, being identical to the example show in the Wayne Techet book on page 151.  The reverse of the blade is plain, with the Siegfried figure logo of the E. Pack firm. The original black blade buffer is in position.

This is one of the rarest of the Luftwaffe etched patterns, and is a key piece to any advanced etched bayonet collection; a good opportunity here to acquire a rarely seen bayonet despite the missing mortise button and lock.  Offered at a reduced price due to the missing part.
