Item #13795
Most were made by the Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury Conneticut and are so marked on the reverse. A couple have no maker. Markings and designs are crips and clear. Condition is Very Good. The early buttons (circa 1850s) saw use up into the Civil War. After the war began letter designated buttons "I" for Infantry and "C" for Cavalry, etc. were replaced with a standard Eagle button for all branches of the Army making these "I" buttons more rare / desirable. TYPICAL EXAMPLE SHOWN.
