Item #9689
When the U.S. entered the war in 1917 the British gave the U.S. a large quantity of helmets which we issued to our troops. We also began producing a slight variation of the same helmet for our troops. This is a very nice example that was named by the dough boy (W.J. Straub) in pencil in the inside rim. He also decorated the outside of the helmet with the division insignia, U.S. flag, A.E.F. France & World War with a bomb burst, all in pencil. Helmet is Good VG with 85% paint and nice liner and chin strap.
