ULE-0003 Early 1800s Flintlock Rifle converted to Caplock (ANTIQUE - No FFL Required)

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #21747

This is a Very Good condition flintlock rifle that was at some time converted to a caplock system.  The inscription on the rifle block reads "G. GOULCH-ER" with nicely detailed scrollwork.  The top of the barrell is stamped "W. KENDALL, WINDSOR VT."  The blonde stock is in extremely good condition, showing light to moderate age and wear.  The caplock action functions correctly.  The star inlays in the butt stock are very well done.  This rifle was heavily used as a flintlock, judging from the wear near where the pan would have been, there is fairly heavy deterioration to the metal.  At some point, possibly when it was converted to a caplock, the sights were modified / modernized.  This does not appear to the be the original ramrod, although it might be.  It is missing both brass endcaps.  It is also too short for the barrel, possibly if the brass endcaps were there it would be the correct length.  Overall length is approximately 54 1/2 inches.  Barrel length is approximately 37 1/8 inch.  The ramrod is approximately 27 3/4 inches long.  This is a really nice looking antique rifle that would be a great addition to any collection.  Please remember, this is an antique rifle that is best suited for display and not for actual use.
