Item #11425
The Preparedness Movement was started in the US by Theodore Roosevelt and Leonard Wood after the First World War began. They felt that at some point The United States would become involved and to meet that challenge we needed to increase the strength of our military. President Wilson opposed this and wanted the US to remain neutral. Items like this cannon were sold to raise money for the movement. It is approximately 7 ½ inches by 2 ½ inches, made of solid brass and weights approximately 3 pounds. It is a combination letter opener, paper clip and business card holder, ink well, and stamp dispenser. Cool and unique.
