This is a very nice early production US Krag rifle bayonet dated 1896. The blade and fittings on the bayonet are bright which was correct post 1894. The blade is in beautiful condition without any flaws. The scabbard is the correct style post 1894 as well and has a browned/ blued patina to the scabbard. There are some light areas of rust/ pitting to the lower section of the scabbard. In addition there is a split in the side of the scabbard at the seam but is very minor and in not visible from the front. Great bayonet!
