Item #19183
These are great WWII US Army Model 1940 Cavalry boots. Originally designed for cavalry or mounted troops these were used by a number of high ranking officers including General George Patton as well as troops in Armored or mechanized cavalry units. This style of boot was also seen in the movie "Fury" being worn by one of the crew. These boots are in good used condition and are an approximate size 10. They are also named to LT Tom B Harris and the boot maker is Lucchese Boot Co in San Antonio, Texas. The leather is in good soft condition but shows areas of light cracking to the surface. All but one of the original straps are intact and in good condition. The top strap on the right side has about two inches broken off. Just above the heel of the boots there is a lump to support the spur and there are signs that spurs have been on these boots for long time. An example of these boots can also be seen on page 127 of the GI Collectors guide. There are several areas where the stitching on the leather flap has separated but it does not detract from the overall appearance.
