UWK-0015 WWII Cattaraugus fightng knife 2250 (ID'd to 41st Fighter Squadron)

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #18022

This is an excellent ID'd WWII Cattaraugus fighting knife. It is ID'd to the 41st Fighter Squadron. This squadron flew antisubmarine patrols off the coast of Washington from, 14 December 1941-21 January 1942. It then went on to fly combat sorties including patrol, escort, and close air support in Southwest and Western Pacific areas from, 23 July 1942-14 August 1945. This knife is in overall good condition with areas of dark grey patina across the blade. There are only some minor areas of very pitting to the blade and under the cross guard. The leather washers are in good shape and are strong. Leather scabbard is in good shape with some minor age cracking and dark areas from use. There is writing on the front of the scabbard as well. A the top I written "equalizer" then a skull and cross bones then "Jap stabber" and "Can opener". Interesting piece.
