Item #21131
These WWII / Korean War era US M1 Carbine rubber handled bayonets have been the subject of discussion for some time. These bayonets have been illustrated by M.H. Cole in his book A Collection of US Military Knives printed in 1968. These are thought to have been original WWII leather handled M1 carbine bayonets which were re-handled due to the leather rotting in the Pacific and re-manufactured in the Philippines with rubber grips. This bayonet is in overall good + condition with only light rust in spots to the parkerized surface. These would have been used towards the end of WWII and through the Korean War era. Additionally the M8A1 original scabbard has been repaired modified to include a metal tip and a leather keeper. Interesting piece of history.
