UWN-0081 San Francisco Examiner (August 15 1945) WAR ENDS!!

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #22122

Displays General Douglas MacArthur on the front cover of the newspaper with a huge lettering of "WAR ENDS!" as the headline. A momentous event not just for the United States, but the entire world, the end of the war and Hirohito's allowance of Japan's surrender was an important event in our world history. This newspaper also includes the destruction of the Indianapolis cruiser, with 833 lives dying on it. The print includes colored ink of "VICTORY" and the US flags on it. An amazing product displaying the importance of the Allied victory, this is a great example of secondary source information that can be used for those wanting to learn about the era, post WWII and atomic bomb era fans, and those needing a really good source to use in their next essay or book! This newspaper has a tear on the front on the "chief" wording of an article title saying "M' Arthur Will Rule Japs as Allied Chief". Natural discoloration due to age and some tattering on the end of the bottom end of the pages. Red ink coloring of MacArthur's belt.
