UXG-0052 WWI US M1911 .45 holster with possible ID

This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #20124

This is an excellent WWI US holster made byS.& R. (Sheffer & Rossum, St. Paul, Minnesota). The holster does not have any date but this manufacturer only made these during WWI. The holster is in good condition with soft supple leather and little to no crazing. The only area is at the top of the flap where there is some minor age cracking. There is an inscription inside in what looks like pen but we have not been able to make anypositiveID's. What is written looks (to me) like "C A Hoer PFC USMC." We are trying to always research names when we get ID'd items and I was not able to find any C A Hoer listed in the USMC in WWI but did find a PFC Christopher Anthony Hoer but he served in the 38th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division in WWI. He was obviously not a Marine. So its up in the air. I have included the two documents aboutPFC Christopher Anthony Hoer just for reference, they are not meant to be a positive ID for this holster. Nice piece with potential for research.
