This item is listed for historical interest only. It is not for sale.
Item #13912

Aurora joined the imperial Russian Pacific Far East Fleet in 1903. She is a "Protected" (armored) Cruiser of 6731 tons and was originally armed with eight 6 inch guns, 24 75mm guns, 8 37mm guns and 3 torpedo tubes. She first saw action in the 1905 Russo-Japanese War and fought in the battle of tsushima Straight. In WWI she operated in the Baltic and was later sent to Petrograd (St. Petersburg). Crewmen from her joined the 1917 Revolution. In October 1917 her crew refused to go to sea. At one point these revolutionary crewmen fired the shot from her forecastle gun that signaled the start of the assualt on the Winter Palace. Her image is featured on the Soviet Medal "The Order of the October Revolution". In WWII her main guns were removed and used to defend Leningrad. She remained in Port at Oranienbaum outside Leningrad and was used as an anti-aircraft ship. She was sunk in late 1941, after being damaged by artillery and bombs. After the war she was repaired and restored as a monument to the Great October Socialist Revolution. She remains today as a museum ship and is still part of the Russian Navy. These sets consist of a 7 3/4 inch aluminum bowl, aluminum tea spoon, soup spoon, and fork. Some of these bowls have 1945 dates, but most items are unmarked. These items came to us via our Russian Naval source and they come with a Letter of Authenticity from him. Condition is Good, used. TYPICAL EXAMPLE SHOWN
