UKP-0006 Korean War Era CV-36 (USS Antietam) Naval Aviator's Grouping
Item #29084
Korean War era naval aviator's grouping named to Captain Charles "Good Time Charlie" Herman Turner. Charles got his wings in 1939 and served with VB-4, VT-11, and VT-3 during WWII. He was piloting a torpedo plane that was shot down by the Japanese. During the war, he was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses, three Air Medals, and one Unit Citation.
This grouping contains six photographs of life onboard CV-36 the USS Antietam, two smaller pilot's photos of Charles, a family portrait on a postcard from Charles' childhood, a Naval Academy graduation photo of Charles, and a 1955 Lucky Bag book for the 20th reunion of the US Naval Academy class of 1935.
